The photograph above, taken in July 2008, shows the neighbourhood in Evdilos created by the branch of the family known as the 'down' Douris's in the 1800's. Click to find out more. Click here	The surname DOURIS originated in Greece and is specifically from the island of Ikaria in the Aegean. There are known branches, in the UK, Ireland and France, who are not aware of the origins of their surname and whose connection with Ikaria have long been lost. Similarly there are DOURIS families in America, Canada and Australia, some from the Greek connection and others from Ireland or UK. The aim of this site is to include all, who wish to be included, on the DOURIS FAMILY SITE. February 2010 Update Dear All . . A new section has been added now to the Gallery with pictures taken of Ikaria. I will try to add more over the next few months. . The winter has finally come to Ikaria this month - there are some pictures in the new section of the Gallery of the snow capped mountains of Ikaria... . I have now posted the new tree from Cousins in America with origins in Ireland.. . Our family here on the site is growing nicely. Matt we are still waiting for your information. Canada still not represented. I have also been approached by a family with origins in Cyprus who's surname is PAPADOURIS. This would indicate that the surname was originally DOURIS and one of the ancestors a Priest. They are reseaching their origins in Cyprus to see if they can find the actual priest Remember if anyone wants to view the Family Trees they need to register and obtain a password. Don't forget the message board. It can be used to leave and swap messages about family matters, post notices of events of interest or just for saying what you think of the site.
