The photograph above, taken in July 2008, shows the neighbourhood in Evdilos created by the branch of the family known as the 'down' Douris's in the 1800's. Click to find out more. Click here	The surname DOURIS originated in Greece and is specifically from the island of Ikaria in the Aegean. There are known branches, in the UK, Ireland and France, who are not aware of the origins of their surname and whose connection with Ikaria have long been lost. Similarly there are DOURIS families in America, Canada and Australia, some from the Greek connection and others from Ireland or UK. The aim of this site is to include all, who wish to be included, on this our DOURIS FAMILY SITE. June / July 2010 Update Dear All . . I hope you have all enjoyed the Ikaria Pictures and hopefully I will continue adding to that section. If anyone has photos of Ikaria that they want to be included please don't hesitate to send them to me. They will be acknowledged with your name. . The Summer is well and truly here in Ikaria this month. We had only a short Spring..For those that are planning to come this year make sure you check the boat schedules as they have drastically changed with only 3 boats to Evdilos a week and 3 boats to Agios a week... In my constant research for more Douris' in the world I have come across some entries on an Irish site for a McDouris in Ireland in the 1800's. This warrents more research to see if there are any still living. I quite like the idea of a McDouris clan. Remember that I have posted up some Irish records in the Information section of the site for those that are interested. Our family here on the site is growing nicely. Please Matt or any one else in Canada we would really like to include your family on the site but need information to do so. Canada is still not represented. There has been no further news from the family with origins in Cyprus who's surname is PAPADOURIS. They are probably still reseaching their origins, hopefully they will get back to me when they have something. Remember if anyone wants to view the Family Trees they need to register and obtain a password. Just click on the Trees tab and then on one of the icon trees and the registration form is available to help you set up your username and password, Or, if you wish, send me an email and I'll do it for you. Family Tree page. Trees are on separate pages according to the main place of residence of the home person. I hope this way it will be easier for everyone to identify other members of their line. . All areas of the Website except the Trees are fully available without having to sign in and of course it goes without saying that your log in information should not be given out to anyone else. Don't forget the message board. It can be used to leave and swap messages about family matters, post notices of events of interest or just for saying "Hello" and for what you think of the site.
