The photograph above, taken in July 2008, shows the neighbourhood in Evdilos created by the branch of the family known as the 'down' Douris's in the 1800's. Click to find out more. Incidentally, clicking on the banner at the top of the page will identify the individual pictures. Origins of the Douris name? Click here	The surname DOURIS originated in Greece and is specifically from the island of Ikaria in the Aegean. There are known branches, in the UK, Ireland and France, who are not aware of the origins of their surname and whose connection with Ikaria have long been lost. Similarly there are DOURIS families in America, Canada and Australia, some from the Greek connection and others from Ireland or UK. The aim of this site is to include all, who wish to be included, on this our DOURIS FAMILY SITE. June 2012 Update Dear All . . I know it is a long time since I updated this site but lots have been happening.. I will get round to adding some new items soon. Summer is now here on the island and this year is a very special year as the island is celebrating 100 years of freedom from the Ottoman Empire.. . There is a new Ikarian Site all in English. It is still in the process of being built but already has some items of interest. It can be found at www.ikaria-pnp.com. The site covers past and present items of interest about Ikaria.. The procedure for viewing the Family Trees are the same - registration gives access to them Family Tree page. Trees are on separate pages according to the main place of residence of the home person. I hope this way it will be easier for everyone to identify other members of their line. . All areas of the Website except the Trees are fully available to everyone. . Don't forget the message board. It can be used to leave and swap messages about family matters, post notices of events of interest or just for saying "Hello" and for what you think of the site. It will be updated soon.. Coming soon for the info page the story of St. Theoktisti who's bones are here on Ikaria. I am always open to any suggestions for our Douris Family website. It was never meant to be a site just about the Evdilos Douris's, please help me expand it with your photos, trees and stories.
